The Wellness News — A Whirlwind, a Pro Card, and a New Chapter

Hello, friend

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind... the kind where you look up and realize your whole life has quietly rearranged itself while you were busy putting one foot in front of the other.

So before anything else, I want to pause and catch you up. Not with a lesson this time. Just with my heart.

Looking back

In September, I said goodbye to the Adult Wellness Center.

For several years, that place was my second home. I walked in not knowing how much it would change me, and I was welcomed in a way that made me feel I truly belonged there from the very first day.

I taught fitness classes like Build & Burn and Body Fit. I created and led seminars and the Fitness Fundamentals course.

I sat across from so many of you in wellness consultations... listening not just to your goals, but to the stories underneath them. The worry about falling. The grief of a body that suddenly felt unfamiliar. The quiet hope of wanting to feel like yourself again.

And then I got to watch the magic happen. I watched people practice getting down to the floor and back up again, nervous at first, then proud. I watched someone who once felt fragile realize they were never broken, just ready for the right kind of support. I watched protein go up, sleep get better, water bottles get refilled, journals get started, and confidence come back one small win at a time.

The center gave me more than clients. It gave me people. I celebrated coworkers' milestones and life changes over the years. I shared laughs in the hallway, encouragement between classes, and smiles that made long days feel lighter. Those relationships shaped me as a coach and as a person, and I will carry every one of them with me.

Watching people learn to love themselves again has been one of the most moving experiences of my life. I am so honored to have been part of so many people's wellness journeys.

Leaving was not easy. Some of my last emails were the hardest I've ever written, and I cried more than once writing them. I didn't leave because the work stopped mattering. I left because it matters so much that I want to take it further.

I also want to be honest with you, because honesty is part of healing. For a long time, I was struggling financially. There were months I couldn't pay basic bills or keep the lights on, and I leaned heavily on family and friends just to get by. I am so blessed that they kept me fed month to month... but it wasn't fair to them, and it wasn't fair to me.

My heart would give away my services for free if it could. My soul knows its purpose is to help others learn to love themselves. And somewhere along the way, I realized that putting myself through financial hardship was not a loving act toward myself. Sometimes growth hurts. For me, it meant learning that loyalty has to be balanced with self-respect and financial health.

If you're in a hard season right now, I see you. There is no shame in it, and you are not alone.

So this choice wasn't made lightly. It came from deep reflection and from listening to what I truly value. Staying where I was wouldn't let me reach my full potential or build the things my heart is calling me to build. The road ahead holds some uncertainty, yes... but it is also brimming with possibility. And I'm choosing to walk toward it.

And then, in the middle of all that change... I stepped on stage and earned my WNBF pro card as a vegan athlete. I won first place in both Bikini Master's 40+ and Bikini Open.

I still get emotional typing that. I built every ounce of that physique fully plant-based, proof that you can build real strength and muscle while living your values. Natural bodybuilding has taught me what I'm capable of when I fully commit. It taught me that discipline isn't about punishing your body. It's about honoring it, listening to it, and showing up for yourself even on the days you'd rather not. Standing on that stage, I felt every early morning, every meal prep, and every moment I almost talked myself out of it.

I also have to give a shout-out to the amazing competitors I shared that stage with. Backstage, it wasn't about competition at all... it was encouragement, shared nerves, help with your earrings, and genuine joy for each other. Every athlete there poured months of discipline and heart into that moment, and I am so proud to stand alongside them.

So many of you have asked: when is your next competition? The judges' feedback was amazing, and I'm already preparing for what's next. I'm humbled by it, and I know I have a lot of work to do before I step on that stage again. Competing keeps me healthy, in body and mind, and I'm grateful for every part of the process. I'll share the date once it's set.

Thank you

To my Wellness Center family, staff and members alike: thank you. Your kind words in these final weeks reminded me that the work mattered. Hearing that I made a difference in your lives means more than I can put into words.

To my clients: thank you for trusting me with your bodies, your goals, and your honesty. It has been an honor to be part of your journey.

I know it isn't easy to sit across from someone and share the hard parts... the pain you've been living with, the fears you've carried quietly, the goals you were almost afraid to say out loud. Your vulnerability was a gift, and I never took it lightly. It takes real courage to say "I want something different" and then show up to do the work.

And oh, how I loved celebrating your wins. The first time you got up from the floor on your own. The extra weight on the bar. The better night of sleep, the full water bottle, the jeans that fit a little easier, the day you caught yourself speaking kindly to the person in the mirror. Big or small, every one of those moments mattered to me, and I will carry them with me always. You've made me a better coach and a better human.

To the WNBF and the Natural State Savages team: Thank you!

The WNBF has been the home of truly natural bodybuilding since the late 1980s. Every athlete is drug tested, and that integrity is the backbone of the federation. When you stand on a WNBF stage, everyone knows your physique was built the honest way... with time, consistency, discipline, and a whole lot of heart. Earning my pro card in a federation that has protected a level playing field for more than 35 years means the world to me. Thank you to Tina and the WNBF team for guiding me through every step.

Natural State Savages, hosted by Robert Sikes of Keto Savage, brought that mission home to Arkansas, The Natural State. This was only the show's second year, and you could feel the care in every detail. It was an athlete-first experience from start to finish, and I felt seen, supported, and celebrated. Robert, thank you for believing in natural athletes and for building something so special right here in our own backyard.

What you do is beautiful. You give people the chance to learn and grow at the deepest level while championing a clean, drug-free path forward. You reminded me that you can push your body to its limits and still honor it. That's the same message I want every one of my clients to hear: you don't have to harm your body to transform it.

To my family and friends: you are my life. Your unwavering support, generosity, and love carry me through every single day. You're the first ones I call to celebrate the wins, big and small, and the ones who lift me up when things get hard. With you, I never feel alone.

Each of you brings your own light into my life... a quick text to check in, a heart-to-heart over coffee, the laughter when we're all together. You show up for me, often before I even ask. Thank you for being my rock, my confidants, and my biggest cheerleaders. You inspire me to be the best version of myself, and I am eternally grateful.

And to you, reading this right now: thank you for being here. Whether you've opened every newsletter or this is your first, you are part of why I keep going.

What's next

Here's what I believe with my whole heart: endings make room.

And here's a piece of news that still makes me pinch myself: I've started a full-time role with a company that partners with Tony Robbins, using his coaching methodologies to help people create real breakthroughs in their lives. Tony has been an inspiration to me for years, and being connected to his work inspires me every single day. His message that we can take charge of our lives, and that real change starts on the inside, has shaped the way I coach and the way I dream. Getting to be part of that world is a gift I don't take lightly.

My first week was amazing. The team is extraordinary, with backgrounds both similar to mine and wonderfully varied, and I'm already learning so much from them. I can't wait to bring everything I learn back to you.

This next chapter is about reaching more of you, wherever you are. I'm creating Be Well Fellows classes built on three things. Self-love first... learning to love and respect the body you're in right now, not someday. Fitness basics... starting with the foundations of sleep, mindset, hydration, protein, and nutrition, followed by simple, safe strength and movement that build confidence and respect your joints. And virtual coaching options... personal support from me, wherever you are in the world.

Because I've seen it again and again: it's really hard to reach your goals when you're at war with yourself. Your body is not the problem. You don't need more discipline. You need support that feels steady, realistic, and kind.

This is exactly what I trained for. As a Certified Wellness Coach, Behavior Change Specialist, and Virtual Coaching Specialist, my heart has always been in helping people close the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Wellness coaching taught me to see the whole person, not just the workout. Behavior change coaching taught me that lasting results come from small, doable habits and a kinder inner voice, not more willpower. And virtual coaching is what makes this next chapter possible... it lets me walk beside you wherever you are in the world.

I'll share more details and an early-access invitation soon. You'll hear it here first.

You'll also keep getting The Wellness News, with practical tips, honest stories, and reminders that you are worth caring for.

I'm still here for you

Please know this: I am always available, and I am so excited for this next chapter with you.

With everything moving so fast lately, a few things may have slipped through the cracks. If you are waiting on something from me (a plan, a routine, a follow-up, or an answer to a question), please reach out. I would truly love to hear from you, and I'll make it right.

You can simply write to me at Melissa@bewellfellows.com.

With so much gratitude and love,

Melissa

Growth sometimes means walking through fire... just remember, you don't have to do it alone.

Well Fellows. You Are Divine.
